DeLorenzo’s The Burg Pizza Review

Tried out Delorenzo’s The Burg Pizza for Pizza Friday. Service was great here.

The Menu

The menu here is pretty simple. There are some alright specialty pies. I’m curious about the Italian hot dog pie. Feel like that doesn’t sound gourmet. Should be like Italian handcrafted artisanal sausage roll pie. Also, pork roll pie could be fancier if they called it prosciutto. If you’re claiming gourmet, let’s go all the way. But I digress not everyone wants to pay for imported pork. At least they know how a good pizza should be cooked. Well done is the way.

Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms

These were alright. If you’re trying to cut back on carbs this may be a good choice since it’s just mushrooms and sausage. But if you’re splurging, I’d probably try the cheesy garlic bread. This place doesn’t offer fries and our server recommended the bread in their place but we opted for this. The sausage was good and the mushrooms were pretty basic. I love mushrooms though so I could eat these every day of the week. 7/10.

Large Chicken Parm Pizza

Got a large chicken Parm pie. It tasted alright. Nothing stood out that much. It was kind of dry. The ricotta was an odd inclusion. It doesn’t seem necessary. I think it would be better without it. Couldn’t really taste or see Parm anywhere on the pie. The chicken was pretty good. Genuine Parm. The sauce was good too. But I felt like there wasn’t enough cheese. The bottom was toasted well. The crust was super dry. The dough must be very low in moisture. It’s decent but I’d definitely go for a different specialty pie here. 5.8 / 10.

Personal Clam Casino Pizza

This is an interesting pie. Never see a spot highlight a clam pizza but this looked like a popular choice here. It tasted really good. If one bite was missing clam then you may get some bacon. The peppers also gave some bites some nice spice. Onions are onions, if you like them it’s good. I like them and it helps deliver some more unique flavors. Overall this is a 8.4 / 10. Definitely would be happy getting a large of this pie.

Small Plain Pizza Slice

This plain pie tasted better than the Parm. It was actually really good. The sauce and cheese ratio was on point. Sauce had lots of flavor.  7.5 / 10.

Clam Pie Pizza Slice

I think this version of the Clam pizza is worse than the casino. The difference here is the exclusion of bacon, peppers, and onions. This pie just has clam, parsley, and garlic. The parsely was pretty strong here and kind of overpowering. The clams are good but feel like it the pie could’ve used more. Still tastes really good but I think the casino version is the winner here. Putting bacon on pizza is a cheat code. But if you’re trying to save on some calories, I’d probably go for the casino version and exclude the bacon. This pie is a 7 /10.
